Selectamark has implemented a policy for exchange of secure information. This covers third parties:

• transferir la propiedad o actualizar la información de propiedad

The information exchange policy covers secure information transferred electronically (e.g. via email and internet), physically (e.g. by post or in person), by telephone and by fax.

Selectamark will endevour to enter postal registrations as soon as possible onto the database and in any event within 10 days of receipt. There are certain periods during the year when literally thousands of registration forms are received and to ensure good security procedures and quality of data input, small backlogs are possible.

On the other hand, online registrations are immediate but do require you to have available your:

Selectamark will provide a "yes" or "no" answer to the question "Is asset xxxx registered as lost or stolen?" (where xxxx is the asset registration number marked on the asset) to a general enquirer.

Selectamark will also provide a "yes" or "no" answer to the question "Is xxxx the registered keeper of asset xxxx?" (where xxxx is the asset registration numberon the asset) to an enquirer providing: 

• the enquirer has appropriate access privileges, and
• the telephone number dialed in order to contact the enquirer is the registered contact telephone number for that enquirer

Selectamark will also provide access to additional information about the asset and registered keeper to Police and Law Enforcement officers if:

• the Police or law enforcement officer is a currently serving police officer with a registered official police email address, and
• the registered keeper has agreed to the information being supplied to law enforcement officers OR Selectamark is otherwise required by law to release that inforamtion.*

There is an exemption in the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act) that allows organizations to give out personal information for the purposes of preventing or detecting a crime, or catching and prosecuting a suspect (Section 29 - Crime and Taxation).

Such information will be limited to registered keeper name, address, telephone and contact email. Selectamark will not provide details of assets registered.

Selectamark will not provide anyone other than the registered keeper or law enforcement officer access to any secure information about the assets or keepers.
